Students will work four days a week in locations including Genome Campus, the University of Cumbria and ASOS as well as studying one day a week with Arden University.
Ronan Harte, chief executive of BaxterStorey, said: “Creating opportunities through our degree apprentice programme is one way we are addressing the skills gap in our industry. We know that growing talent from the grass roots up often creates the best future leaders.
“I started my career through an apprenticeship – it’s a great way to come into the industry, to learn your trade. We’re seeing more interest and sign-ups for apprenticeships, and we’re focused on increasing this number.”
The students will experience all parts of the business from shadowing chefs in the kitchen to helping with menu development, learning about front of house as well as getting involved in event planning, marketing and finance.
Apprentice Elizabeth Taylor, added: “I’ve always wanted a job in hospitality and thought this would be a great way to into helping me progress into a management role. My manager, Cathryn, has been a great support already – she’s very flexible with helping me manage my university work.”
