Abstract
The BaxterStorey team at Saïd Business School in Oxford raised £1,334.47 for Ukraine’s Humanitarian Appeal by putting on a three-course charity dinner.

The Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal helps provide essential items and emergency food for families and refugees fleeing Ukraine. Around 150 students and staff enjoyed a Ukrainian-inspired three-course dinner.

The event was organised by retail manager Julie Purtill and supported by the culinary team, including executive service manager Marzena Wlazlo, supervisor Jenny Pena, executive chef Steve Wren, commis chef Ryan Smith and senior sous chef Darek Krzywacki.

The Ukrainian-inspired menu included:

  • Starter: Ukrainian broth finished with egg, sour cream and dill, served with Ukrainian breads
  • Main course: Breaded chicken breast filled with garlic butter, Ukrainian potato salad, beetroot salad and cucumber and dill salad with sour cream
Breaded field mushroom filled with garlic butter (V)
  • Dessert: Pancakes filled with cream cheese and raisins

The fundraiser finished with a raffle, with prizes including a £50 gift card for Bicester Village, family annual pass for Blenheim Palace, tickets for Warwick Castle and a Modern Standard AeroPress travel coffee kit.

Sara Beck, chief operating officer at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, said: “This was a wonderful, and delicious, way to get together and enjoy ourselves while continuing the support so many members of our community have shown for Ukrainians at this terrible time.”
