Abstract
Independent caterers, Bartlett Mitchell, has launched #BMfamily, a new app to enable on-the-go communication between colleagues.

The app, which is designed to be general Data protection regulation (GDPR) compliant, will provide a secure online platform for more than 900 Bartlett Mitchell team members to share information through an Instagram-style news feed and one-to-one and group chats.

Wendy Bartlett, executive chairman and founder of Bartlett Mitchell, said: “Our business has gone from strength to strength, achieving fantastic growth for the last seven years. But we could not have done it without the commitment and passion of our incredible teams.

“For us, it’s really important to continually invest in ground breaking technology to maintain our ability to keep a close relationship with all our team members in a safe and secure way and, as we continue to grow, we need to ensure that we are making the most of technology to help us do this.”

Other key features of the app include a mobile team directory, video and photo sharing, flash polling and a mute function that will allow staff to snooze notifications until their next shift.

It will also give every team member the opportunity to have direct communication with the founders of the business as well as other colleagues and senior management in addition to influence the company by contributing their own ideas.

#BMfamily will be integrated into the induction of all new team members and replace the company’s existing ‘Snippets’ newsletter as the primary source of company communications.
