Pupils at Barking and Dagenham schools enjoyed traditional roast turkey or mozzarella and cranberry parcels in the run up to the Christmas holidays.
Councillor Lynda Rice, said: “It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces as the young people tucked into healthy and mouth-watering festive food.
“The School Catering Service has created a fun filled atmosphere by serving the needs of young people’s wellbeing and health.
“I am extremely proud of all our school cook teams who help to make the annual Christmas lunch so memorable and special.”
Over 20,000 festive Christmas dinners in primary and secondary schools were served, including 25,000 turkey slices, 50,000 brussels sprouts, 75,000 sliced carrots and over 100,000 roast potatoes.
