Aviko raises £600 for Coeliac UK during Coeliac Awareness Week
Abstract
Potato product supplier Aviko raised £600 for Coeliac UK during the week long campaign, which ran from May 11th, through its social media campaign.

Aviko donated £2 for every follow and retweet on twitter using the hashtag #AvikoGFHeroes and those that engaged with the campaign were also entered into a giveaway for the chance to win a personalised chefs jacket and one of five Aviko and Coeliac UK goody bags.

The activity formed part of Aviko’s Gluten-Free Heroes campaign, highlighting the importance of gluten-free side dishes which are suitable for people with coeliac disease on menus.

Mohammed Essa, general manager UK and Ireland, Aviko said: “Coeliac UK provides vital support for those suffering from coeliac disease so we’re proud to have raised such a significant amount of money to help their cause – thank you to everyone that got involved.

“We believe in the importance of providing gluten-free sides – particularly as 73% of people don’t think the out-of-home sector does enough to cater for gluten intolerances – so, alongside the fundraising for Coeliac UK, we’re working hard to support caterers with their coeliac friendly menus.”

Sarah Sleet, chief executive of Coeliac UK, said: “Eating out with confidence is really important for people with coeliac disease, as a strict gluten-free diet is the only treatment for people diagnosied with the autoimmune condition.

“We have worked alongside the catering industry for many years providing training and accreditation for the safe provision of gluten-free food.

“Aviko’s activity on Twitter during our Awareness Week helped spread the word about coeliac disease and the ‘is it coeliac disease’ campaign to the catering industry and we appreciate their very generous donation to the Charity.”

Formed in 1968, Coeliac UK provides support and information to help coaliac suffers manage their health and diet.
