Assist FM holds Autumn Seminar & appoints new chair

Assist FM hosted its Autumn Seminar at the Glen Pavilion in Fife where Jayne Jones completed her time as chair and Chris Ross, head of catering at City of Edinburgh Council, took over.

Speaking ahead of the conference, Jones said: “It’s a big day today for @AssistConf as we hold our Autumn Seminar and AGM. Personally, it’s also a big day as I hand over the chair of this wonderful organsiation to Chris Ross after three years as chair. Onwards to the future.”

The conference programme included:

  • Scott Chalmers from ScotGov told attendees about the causes of food price increases and what his team are doing in response to it
  • Laura Meikle discussed mental health and well-being support in schools
  • Mark Hunter launched the new Assist Conference Awards
  • Cabinet Secretary Mairi Gougeon talked about the Good Food Nation Act and the importance of public sector food in Scotland
  • Gordon Herron from Parent Pay went through the findings of the recent school meals survey of parents
  • Lindsay Graham highlighted the impact of the cost of living on children and young people living in Scotland
