Carter is now a ‘Game Changer’ – a status granted by BITC to selected individuals who have made a contribution to corporate social responsibility.
Game Changer is a one-off award designed to recognise inspirational individuals working behind the scenes to advance responsible business practice.
Stephen Howard, chief executive, Business in the Community, said: “We are delighted to recognise some of the brightest stars in corporate responsibility through our Game Changers award. Without the energy and passion of Game Changers like Val Carter, I doubt very much if the UK responsible business movement would be quite so mature. They truly deserve this recognition which I hope will act as an inspiration to others.”
Aramark’s corporate responsibility activities include the global Aramark Building Community volunteering programme and lead sponsorship of City Year in London, a youth and education charity which recruits 18-25 year olds to work in schools in deprived communities.
Carter said: “Responsible businesses are successful businesses. Client, customers, partners and staff will proactively favour companies which act in an ethical manner, and rightly so. Business in the Community is an important vehicle to share ideas and best practice in corporate responsibility and we are proud to be active members.”
