Abstract
Aramark has been awarded a two-year extension to its catering and cleaning contract with one of the south west’s largest further and higher education colleges, City College Plymouth.

Starting in August 2013, the extension is worth an estimated £2.5m over the two years and will see Aramark provide an increased range of services.

The contractor currently runs two restaurants, three Costa coffee outlets and two shops, and manages cleaning across the whole college estate.

As part of the contract extension, it will further invest in these services with a re-designed shop at the college’s Goschen site as well as an upgraded food service which will include a new salad bar section and a live theatre station with a combined hot deli offer.

City College Plymouth also plans to open a new engineering block in September 2013, in which Aramark will run a new ‘Grab and Go’ outlet.

For the cleaning side of the contract, Aramark will invest in a more efficient, sustainable and environmentally-friendly cleaning system, using the latest technology.

“We’re thrilled to have extended our partnership with City College Plymouth and are confident that the new services will contribute to a thriving and exciting environment for staff and students,” says Andrew Rintoul, Aramark’s client relationship manager for the south and south west.

“Beyond providing support services, we will also work with the college to support their programme of Skills for Life, Work Start and Hospitality.

“This provides real work experience for up to 20 students on site with Aramark, helping to prepare them for the world of work after they finish their studies.”

City College Plymouth is one of the south west’s largest providers of further and higher education, with just under 17,000 students. It provides a wide range of courses, ranging from GCSEs through to university-level courses, the latter in partnership with Plymouth University.
