Abstract
Aramark, the contract caterer has reaffirmed its commitment to fresh British meat with a low cost price model for its units.
The foodservice company says it has been working closely with its suppliers to specify fresh British meat at affordable prices. Chris Carr Barney, senior buyer stated: "It is important to us that the Food Development team and the Buyers work hand in hand to identify ways of ensuring we deliver exceptional quality and promoting British meat wherever possible. "For instance as a company we promote the use of fresh meat where possible and our buyers work hard to ensure a competitive price point to make this an affordable option for our teams on the ground what ever choice of meat they require on their menus. We are also heavily involved with British Food Fortnight and our units have a wide array of promotions available on products including British meat." One example of the new commitment is with the three top selling lines – beef mince, diced beef and diced chicken – which are now available at the same price point as their frozen counterparts. Nick Brookwell Aramark's food development director said: "We know our chefs look to create the very highest quality meals. By ensuring these fresh products are available at the same price to frozen, we are empowering our talented teams to showcase their culinary genius, whilst also doing our bit to help promote provenance and quality."
