Aramark is feeding hospital visitors and employees at a licensed Starbucks store with refurbished seating area, and at a deli under its own Original Food Company (OFC) brand.
Aramark has taken a five-year lease from the retail concourse landlord Gentian who designed, built, manage and own the concourse on a head lease from the Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.
The deal sees Aramark replace Sodexo, which had been running a branded coffee shop and its own snack facility.
“NHS managers are increasingly taking the option of leasing hospital entrance or foyer space to property and advisory companies such as Gentian who are experts in the design, construction and management of modern retail and café facilities in hospital main entrances,” said Kate Holder, director of operations, South West for Aramark. “It provides a new income stream for the Health Boards and Trusts, while public space within the hospital is put to productive use in a welcoming and popular way.
“In turn, Gentian works with companies such as Aramark as we’re experts in foodservice and know how to deliver a fantastic customer experience day in, day out. This mix of sound commercial investment, coupled with new high-quality services for hospital employees and visitors, is a winning combination for all involved.”
