The outsourcing specialist won the contract to provide catering services, retail, vending, hospitality services and summer school catering at the university last year.
The latest recruitment means Aramark now employs more than 50 students nationwide who study at the higher education institutions served by the contractor.
Fiona Martin, Aramark’s client relationships director for education, said: “Increasingly, universities and higher education colleges are looking to their suppliers to demonstrate the extra value they can bring to a contract.
“A really effective way of doing this is to employ some of their students, providing them with an income and a great addition to their CV.
“It’s something which works really well for all three parties. For universities, working with a service provider in this way shows their commitment to supporting student employability.
“For the students we take on, they gain valuable employment experience with hours that suit their studies, while earning much-needed extra income.
“For us it’s a way of obtaining skilled, enthusiastic employees who understand what their fellow students want when it comes to food and drink and who really add to the success of our service on site.
“For those clients where we recruit in this way, on average one in six of our employees are now homegrown students.”
At Westminster, Aramark worked with the Students’ Union to promote its recruitment campaign. Speaking about the new student employees, Takri Mahri, president of the university’s Students’ Union, said: "I’m glad to see that Aramark has provided job opportunities for Westminster University students. There’s nothing like a flexible part-time job at uni that can help students gain new skills and earn money in the process.”
