Apetito launches Estates and Facilities Heroes competition
Abstract
To recognise and celebrate the essential work carried out by Healthcare Estates and Facilities (E&F) teams across the UK, healthcare meals provider Apetito has launched a nationwide competition that allows hospitals to nominate the stars of their E&F departments.

Whether it’s the teams working outside to maintain the grounds and gardens, those keeping the buildings safe and secure, caterers preparing nutritious meals daily, or the hands ensuring a clean and tidy ward environment – the competition aims to honour the ‘unsung heroes’ working in all the E&F professions.

To say ‘thank you’ individuals and teams can be nominated to be in with a chance of winning a luxury hamper. There are six categories, including:

  • Making a Real Difference: Recognising a remarkable member of the team who always goes above and beyond to create a positive impact.
  • Leading The Way in Sustainability: This category honours an individual or team which exemplifies sustainable practice and champions sustainable initiatives across healthcare sites.
  • Catering Champion: Celebrating an outstanding member of the catering team who has improved the quality and/or effectiveness of catering operations, ultimately improving the wellbeing of patients.
  • Innovation Excellence: This category recognises a member of the E&F team who consistently thinks outside the box and demonstrates forward-thinking strategies to enhance day-to-day operations.
  • Rising Star: For someone who has been in their E&F role for less than two years, this category celebrates an emerging talent showing significant development and true potential for the future.
  • Team of the Year: This category celebrates the outstanding achievements of a team within E&F that has evidenced excellent collaboration and synergy.

Nominations are open until Friday 18th April where the winning heroes will then be chosen by an independent judging panel and celebrated on National Healthcare Estates and Facilities Day on Wednesday 18th June. Nominate someone here.
