Abstract
Caterer Amadeus has made two senior appointments to facilitate the ‘rapid’ growth of its event and venue portfolio.

Having worked for the company as catering general manager at the NEC (Birmingham) for the past six years, Paul Bate has been promoted to operations director for its ‘home venues,’ including the NEC, ICC, Genting Arena, Arena Birmingham and Vox Conference Centre.

Peter Watson meanwhile joins in the newly created role of operations director for Amadeus’s external venues, following over a decade managing catering operations within the motorway services industry.

Overseeing the events arm of the business, Watson will manage a ‘varied portfolio of venues,’ including Cadbury World, Belfast Zoo, Belfast Castle, Compton Verney, and the Library of Birmingham.

Managing director Kevin Watson said: “We are excited to welcome Peter and Paul to the team – they join a diverse and committed board comprising some of the best talent in the industry.

“These two new appointments reflect Amadeus’s continued growth over the last five years (up 239% in profit from £25 million in 2012 to £47m).

“With the expansion of our team, we aim to take Amadeus to new levels by increasing our reach and penetration into new areas of the leisure and retail industry.”
