Alpha LSG wins easyJet contact at Manchester/Liverpool airports
Abstract
Services provider Alpha LSG has scored a contract with Gate Retail Onboard (GRO) to supply inflight catering to more than 220 easyJet flights each week departing from Manchester and Liverpool airports.

Alpha LSG is providing easyJet with buy-on-board sandwiches, crew food and a bar service adding up to 8,500 meals each week for passengers flying out of Manchester and 6,500 meals weekly for flights from Liverpool.

GRO which manages all of easyJet’s inflight requirements across the airline’s European network, has appointed Alpha LSG to service 126 flights each week from Manchester Airport, flying to 18 destinations. In addition, 96 flights from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to 19 destinations will be services. The new arrangement commenced on 13th May 2015.

Sandra Griffiths, Interim Flight Services Manager at Manchester, said: “This is really great news for us. It’s always exciting to gain new business and even more so when it is such a high-profile carrier. Although Alpha LSG has catered for easyJet elsewhere, this is a first for Manchester and Liverpool and we are delighted.”

The contract also means an extra 40 jobs added to the 180 positions that Alpha LSG is already recruiting for to cover the busy summer period at its Manchester base which employs around 650 people.

This year Alpha LSG’s Manchester team expects to cater around 39,000 flights with over 5.5 million passenger meals from buy-on-board to full in-house production for first, business and economy classes.

The company provides services for a wide range of carriers flying out of the North West including American Airlines, Emirates, Etihad, Jet 2, FedEx, Air Transat, Monarch, Qatar, Ryanair, Thomas Cook, Thomson, United, Germania, Egyptair, Small Planet, Saudi Airlines, PIA, Enter Air and Iraqi Airways.
