The competition aims to ‘encourage and recognise’ young chefs in the hospitality industry. In each chef duo at least one of them must be 26-years-old or younger.
The ACE Ready Steady Cook competition is a ‘competitive and fun event’ where the audience can network and be apart of the evening. The competition will take place on 26 September 2019 at East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf.
Handling, chef owner of Adam Handling Restaurant Group, said: “I’m thrilled to be working with ACE to offer their Young Star winner work experience in one of my kitchens.
"I’ve always made sure my kitchens showcase fresh talent - it’s vital to celebrate and support emerging chefs in this industry and to nurture their passion for what can often be quite a difficult and high-pressured career to start out in.
“It’s also fantastic to see how passionate new chefs in the industry are about minimising waste. Everyone in my group is committed to cooking in the most sustainable way possible.”
The teams will have half an hour to plan and prepare a main course and dessert in front of over 250 spectators. City Harvest will distribute leftover food ingredients to organisations that help homeless people in London.
Hospitality Action is ACE’s chosen charity for 2019/20 and it supports the UK’s Hospitality industry workers when they find themselves in a crisis.
