ACE launches Ready Steady Cook 2019
Abstract
The Association of Catering Excellence (ACE) has launched the 21st Ready Steady Cook competition that will take place on 26 September at East Wintergarden, Canary Wharf.

The competition aims to ‘encourage and recognise’ young chefs in the hospitality industry. In each team of two at least one chef will be under 25-years-old.

There are teams confirmed from BaxterStorey, Blue Apple, CH&Co., Genuine Dining Co. Gather & Gather, Graysons, HIT, Holroyd Howe, ISS, Lexington, Restaurant Associates, Sodexo and Vacherin.

The ACE Ready Steady Cook competition is a ‘competitive and fun event’ where the audience can network and be apart of the evening.

The overall competition winners from last year were Lewis Linley and Gemma Vardon from Vacherin. They cooked roast pigeon, pancetta, sweet potato, broccoli cous cous, pickled blackberries, and sweet potato crisps followed by a dessert of almond financier, orange, roast fig and honey and yoghurt espuma, almond crumb.

The teams will have 30 minutes to plan and prepare a main course and dessert in front of over 250 spectators. City Harvest will distribute leftover food ingredients to organisations that help homeless people in London.

There will be a ‘street food’ area, together with sponsor and supplier stands, providing opportunities to mingle, chat and try samples.
