ACE invites contractors to enter 'dragon's den'

5th Jul 2010 - 00:00
Abstract
The Association of Catering Excellence (ACE) is planning to put members to the test with a 'Dragon's Den'-style event in London on July 14 designed to test their entrepreneurial skills.
Six teams have been chosen to pitch business ideas to a panel of 'industry dragons' to win an executive-level training course at Disney Institute World HQ Florida. Each team's pitch will consist of a four-minute presentation followed by six minutes of questioning from the judging panel. The judges are: Alistair Storey, the managing director of BaxterStorey, Philip Martson, managing director of Vantis Corporate Finance Ltd, Sheila McKenzie, founder and managing director of Pitcher & Piano Ltd, James Horler, executive chairman of Ego Restaurants Ltd, and Jason Leek, managing director of Compass fine dining arm Restaurant Associates. The event takes place at BMA House in Tavistock Square in London and while the business pitches take place from 4pm-6pm there will be an accompanying supplier showcase happening in an adjoining room. The Dragon's Den will be followed by a 'Mad Hatter's Tea Party' that promises a colourful dress code, a prize for the quirkiest hat, party games, a magician plus cocktails and canapés followed by a main meal and dessert.
