Brookwood’s catering teams highlighted environmental messages, showcased a number of initiatives and produced an ‘environmentally-friendly’ menu using locally-sourced ingredients and Fairtrade products.

“Establishing the Planet Matters programme was all about informing our employees and pupils about everything environmental,” said Brookwood Partnership managing partner Kate Martin.

“From plate waste and recycling to food miles, how much electricity it takes to produce lunch in school and all the other aspects with regards to local food, our Planet Matters Day is a chance for us to engage with our clients on important environmental messages in an interactive and fun way.

“Feedback from the day has been fantastic, especially from the children. They love this sort of stuff as they see the planet very much as their own, and their future.”

Planet Matters Day activities included helping pupils grow herbs and vegetables that are used in the kitchen, helping them establish wormeries and encouraging them to drink tap water from reusable bottles rather than plastic ones.
