What’s more, 70% said they take a ‘quick lunch’ of 40 minutes or less, while almost 30% “regularly” take a ‘micro lunch’ - under 25 minutes.
Carried out by Japanese-inspired restaurant chain Wagamama, the research also revealed Brits’s bugbears when it comes to eating out at lunchtime – with ’waiting for a table’ and ‘waiting for the bill’ coming in at joint top with 23% each.
Meanwhile, with time clearly of the essence and 54% eating out at least once a week, 40% said they will use technology to speed up all elements of life in general.
The news suggests that operators must continue to build and adapt their food-to-go offering in order to profit from time-struck consumers and capitalise on the increasing demand for good food served quickly.
