Abstract
Entries are now open for the Staff Training and Development Award at the rebranded National Fish & Chip Awards 2011 organised by Seafish, the authority on seafood.
The Staff Training and Development Award, sponsored by Blakemans Sausages, will be awarded to the fish and chip shop showing the strongest commitment to its staff, including external and internal training and ongoing development including review and feedback. Last year's winner of the Staff Training and Development Award was Harbour Lights in Falmouth. Peter Fraser, the award-winning owner, said: "Winning the training award was fantastic recognition for the entire team and goes to show that the hard work we put in behind the scenes is worth it. My staff are invaluable in making this business successful and I feel very passionate about offering them top class training and the opportunity to develop." James Wood, marketing and communications manager at Seafish said: "Training and development is absolutely crucial to the future of the fish and chips industry. This award recognises the great lengths many shop owners go to ensure their staff are offering top class customer service and are knowledgeable about the product they are offering, which in today's culture of traceability is very important." It is free to enter the awards and previous winners have seen their business improve by up to 40%.
