The contract, secured after representatives from ROX attended a special showcase event at the Stadium of Light, included creating, cooking and serving the special themed menus at two special afternoon receptions.
The first, coinciding with the Scotland versus South Africa rugby game at Newcastle’s St James’ Park, included South African dishes of Braaied Boerewors - a traditional, barbecue (braai) sausage dish served with shredded cabbage and potato – and Bunny Chow – a meat stew served in a hallowed loaf of bread.
The second, taking place ahead of the Scotland against Samoa game, included Palusami Lu’au - meat and onions, marinated in coconut milk and baked in taro leaves – and Kale Moa – a Samoan mild chicken curry.
Earlier this year 1879 held Countdown to Kick Off, a special showcase at the Stadium of Light, offering existing and potential customers the chance to sample its services and meet members of the SAFC first team.
Gary Hutchinson, commercial director for SAFC and 1879 Events Management, said: “The Countdown to Kick Off event was a great success, allowing us to cement our ongoing business relationships and to create new ones with brands like ROX Jewellery.
“This is a great partnership for us and one which has already allowed the team at 1879 Events Management to flex their creative culinary muscles and come up with two amazing menus representing Scotland, South Africa and Samoa.”
1879 Events Management, which launched in 2012, currently manages catering and events at the Stadium of Light and National Glass Centre, Sunderland, as well as its own Beach House bistro and all manner of external corporate and private gatherings.
