In the space of 24 hours, staff from 1879 Events Management managed both a mayoral dinner in South Tyneside and a business awards ceremony on Teesside, while maintaining daily operations at its three permanent sites.
This includes the Stadium of Light, where 1879 manages all manner of private and corporate events; National Glass Centre, where it also runs the in-house brasserie and its wholly owned eatery and event space, The Beach House bistro, Roker.
More than 400 people attended The Journal and The Gazette’s Teesside Business Awards at Teesside University, where 1879 Events Management provided a pop-up bar and full service kitchen.
Staff, who arrived by coach from the company’s headquarters at the Stadium of Light, dressed the room before serving a drinks reception and three course meal, including locally-sourced salmon and beef.
1879 Events Management simultaneously delivered a similar service at South Shields Town Hall, equipping the venue with crockery, cutlery, bar equipment and satellite kitchen for the Mayor’s business dinner.
Gary Hutchinson, Commercial Director for 1879 Events Management, said: “This was a particularly busy day for 1879 Events Management, which saw staff dispatched right across the North East.”
“We were able to utilise the experience gained during our three years of operation to successfully deliver two high profile events, while simultaneously managing events and daily catering at the Stadium of Light, National Glass Centre and The Beach House. I’m extremely proud of the hard working team who made that possible.”
1879 Events Management was founded in 2012 and previously catered for its biggest event to date, Newcastle Pride, which was attended by more than 65,000 people.
