Head of Service for Catering at the Education Authority (Northern Ireland) since April 2020, Stephen is a facilities management professional with over 25 years of operational experience across a wide range of sites and service areas within the public and private sector.
He has overall responsibility for the delivery of the school meals service on behalf of the Education Authority. The catering service delivers to 1,050 schools across Northern Ireland, serving up to 135,000 meals a day to nursery, primary, post-primary, and special schools.
More recently, Stephen has been leading on the transformation of the school meals service and has appointed a new Service Improvement Team which is focused on delivering food innovation and menu development, marketing, and a brand of school meals supported by a robust quality assurance and audit system specifically designed for the catering service.
He says: “Our programme for the transformation of the catering service has just begun. It’s a journey we will be taking with our children and young people at the centre of all our decision-making."
