Abstract
No longer a last minute panic - caterers are planning Christmas earlier and more effectively than ever before.
That's according to Alliance Online who for the last two years has seen a strong growth in the supply of Christmas accessories and disposables, but on a much more considered level. Richard Buley, product specialist at Alliance says: "We're seeing more establishments going for a themed approach, with customers looking to coordinate party products, napkins and tableware so that everything follows a common thread – whether that theme is colour or action. For example, many of our customers are asking for support collateral around promotions such as Glitz and Glamour, James Bond, or Fire and Ice." "We've been working closely with our national accounts since as early as May or June to plan their themes and ensure that the ordering and delivery schedules are in place well ahead of time. The SME market kicks in a little later but never much beyond August / September." Last year saw the company's elves deliver well over a million crackers. That's enough to fill a football stadium, along with more than a million Christmas accessories (the most popular being rocket balloons) along with thousands of novelty items and napkins. This year, best-selling lines that are flying off the shelf include stylish black, gold, and silver crackers, and shiny party products such as foil hats, streamers and blow-outs - especially to the national hotel chains, whilst 'Holly Swirl' crackers and napkins have remained a popular choice in the SME market. The company has a strong national presence with depots covering the whole of the UK mainland, yet offers a highly localized service with an extensive range of products that includes table-ware, disposables, kitchen equipment and cleaning and hygiene products. It has over 20,000 non-food product lines available to the catering, hospitality and leisure industry and delivers FREE on orders over £25.
