Abstract
Eight chefs and eight waiters under the age of 24 have won through to the 2007 Young Chef Young Waiter final on October 15th.
The venue is Westminster Kingsway College and following the competition, an awards dinner will take place at the InterContinental London Park Lane where the winning chef and waiter will be announced. Each finalist has reached this stage after competing at a series of regional finals held at Adam Smith College (Fife), Darlington College, Birmingham College (Food & Tourism) and Thames Valley University (Ealing). They have seen off hundreds of other hopefuls who entered the competition and each finalist has already won an invitation to visit Champagne Louis Roederer at the end of September. The overall winners will then also be presented with a cheque for £2000 and a week's study trip to Berlin, courtesy of the Hotel Adlon, Restaurant VAU and CMA. Second prize runners up will receive £1,000 each and a study trip to Piedmont, Italy, courtesy of Albergo La Spiga and Marrone Wines. Third prize offers £500 plus work experience at a UK Michelin star establishment. The 2007 competition will also see £500 worth of catering equipment from Hansens awarded to the establishments where the overall winners work. The Young Chef Young Waiter Competition is in its 23rd year and is run in partnership with American Express, the Savoy Educational Trust, Louis Roederer Champagne, HSBC, CMA, EBLEX, Sodexho and Restaurant Magazine.
