Winner of first Bocuse d'Or Asia announced

Ten countries gathered together last month to battle it out in the first Bocuse d'Or Asia competition at Pudong Exp in Shanghai-China.
The countries were China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Thailand and Vietnam. The winner of the competition was Takaki Yasuji from Japan, who received a glass blown gold trophy made by French artist Vincent Breed and a 10,000 Euro prize money. In second place came Othman Farouk from Malaysia, followed by Tan Jason from Singapore in third place. Top attendees at the event included Mr Otto Weibel, the chef of the famous Singapore Swiss Hotel The Raffles, Madam Liu Yang, Vice President of the Chinese Cuisine Association, and Mr Terje Ness, Bocuse d'Or Winner in 1999, the president of the jury. The three chosen candidates have been selected for the Bocuse d'Or World Finals in Lyons which take place in France during Sirha, the International Restaurant, Hotel and Food Trade Exhibition on 24-28 January 2009.
