Abstract
Top chefs including Mickael Weiss (Coq d'Argent), Garry Hollihead (Embassy), and Peter Weeden (Paternoster Chop House) raised a huge £5,000 as they competed in the BUPA 10K race in aid of humanitarian charity, Action Against Hunger.
The funds raised will go directly to the charity who works in 43 of the worlds poorest counties, dedicated to saving the lives of malnourished children. Peter Weeden came first in the race, finishing in just 45 minutes and 47 seconds, followed closely by Ollie Burgess (Embassy), then Mickael Weiss, Garry Hollihead, and finally Christian Oddono (Oddono's Gelati Italian Ltd). The winning chef commented: "As a chef, I have an opportunity to use my job to get a message across. It is part of a wider responsibility of the food industry to think about global issues relating to food and I am extremely happy to do this on behalf of Action Against Hunger." Food prices have rocketed by 80% in the last three years and 55 million people already suffer from acute malnutrition.
