Taste of Edinburgh begins today

This year's Taste of Edinburgh has kicked off today (29 May), with over 100 Scottish producers and suppliers gathering together to take part in the event.
The four-day event expects to attract over 25,000 visitors who will sample some of the ingredients in the 54 restaurant 'taster' dishes on offer. There are a total of 18 restaurant kitchens built on site including Michelin-starred Restaurant martin Wishart and Scottish Restaurant of the Year 2008, Dakota. Other highlights of the event include the Taste Theatre, The Taste Kitchen, The Laurent-Perrier Champagne Masterclass, and Taste Edinburgh's Food and Whisky School. Sarah Forbes, Taste of Edinburgh event director, said: "Edinburgh has all the right ingredients for a Taste Festival with some of the best restaurants and best Scottish suppliers right on its doorstep…This year we've added new restaurants, new features and new suppliers to make the Festival an even tastier experience for visitors." Tickets for the event are priced from £12 and are available at www.channel4.com/taste The event will run until 1 June.
