9th Sep 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
School cook Jen Back, of Sea View Primary and Bamburgh schools in South Shields, has been awarded for her outstanding contribution to the Borough's Catering Service.
Along with her responsibilities at the South Shields schools, Jen also provides meals to infants at Horsley Hill Children's Centre, delivering and serving food to 60 reception class pupils, as well as encouraging them to eat more fruit and vegetables. Councillor Jim Foreman, lead member for children and young people, presented Jen with the Hedley Bowl, a rosebowl given to individuals or teams who have made an outstanding contribution to the catering service. Foreman commented on Jen's achievement: "Jen and her team put the needs of the youngsters before all else and take great pride in providing nutritious tasty food to children of all ages, from toddlers to teenagers. They go that extra mile by providing a personal service to all of the children within the Horsley Hill complex. "For Jen to be singled out as exceptional is a real tribute and proves she must be doing something extra special indeed."
