Intensive work over that period will result in the temporary closure of parts of the Palace of Westminster, including the House of Commons and House of Lords Libraries, the Committee Corridor and a number of the kitchens.
The work is necessary in order for the buildings to be reopened when the UK Parliament returns in September, and then again in October.
A House of Commons spokesman said: “During recesses catering provision is scaled back due to the reduced number of customers on the Estate. In addition, as a result of the fire safety improvement works, some outlets based in the Palace of Westminster will temporarily close. However, catering facilities will be available in Portcullis House and other areas of the Estate.”
The fire safety programme ensures that Parliament continues to be compliant with fire life safety requirements by the agreed deadline of December 2018.
