New UK Chairman for Foodservice Consultants Society International

18th Jun 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Jonathan Doughty, Managing Director of Coverpoint, has been appointed UK and Ireland chairman of the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) after a two-year stint as vice chair of the society.
Jonathan, who set up his own catering consultancy business in 1993 and has over 20 years of experience in the business, will be taking the chair from June 2009 to June 2011. He said: "I am absolutely delighted to take on the role of UK and Ireland Chair of the Foodservice Consultancy Society. This is a highly prestigious organization and it is a great honour to be asked to be Chair. The Society's role is to promote professionalism in foodservice consultancy both in the UK and abroad. One way in which we will undertake this is to develop mentoring and educational programmes to improve and enhance the planning, design and delivery of great foodservice spaces, helping operators deliver across the whole range." The appointment was made at the FCSI AGM held at Unilever House, Blackfriars on 5th June – coincidentally the new UK head office of Unilever, one of Coverpoint's clients. Jonathan said: "These are interesting times for foodservice providers: the recession is making life difficult for many, but it is also throwing up fabulous opportunities. A growing number of UK consumers are looking to treat themselves here at home – that might be just by going out for a meal, or by having the family holiday at home and going on regular, local excursions. Foodservice providers need to be ready to cater for increased demand, and the FCSI needs to be ready to support those in foodservice."
