Abstract
Turkeys may not be quite so apprehensive this Christmas, after new research found that more than 700,000 birds a year have been saved from being turned into turkey twizzlers.
They show that 176 twizzlers could be made from each turkey, as each contained just 34 per cent of the "main" ingredient. It's not all good news for the turkey though – children can now enjoy turkey meat's nutritional benefits, with school cooks serving wholesome dishes such as turkey and broccoli pasta bake.
