Abstract
Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh will pay a visit to the UK factory where a host of iconic Heinz Foodservice brands begin their life.
The royal visit on Thursday 21st May marks the 50th anniversary of the official opening of Kitt Green manufacturing site, where the likes of Heinz Beanz and Heinz Soup are made. The Lancashire factory was opened on this day in 1959 by the Lord Chancellor, the Rt. Hon. Viscount Kilmuir and is both the largest food processing plant in Europe and the biggest Heinz food processing factory in the world. Dave Woodward, president of Heinz UK & Ireland, said: "The visit to the Kitt Green site of Her Majesty The Queen and His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh is a tremendous honour for Heinz and one for which we all feel immensely proud. "This year marks the occasion when Her Majesty The Queen will have been proclaimed Queen for 57 years – a number that is also rather significant to Heinz. Everyone is very much looking forward to this very special visit."
