Gatwick Airport gets an array of new arrivals

4th Jun 2009 - 00:00
Abstract
Gatwick has launched three new food outlets just in time for the busy summer holiday season.
The airport, which has spent the last few months developing its dining offering, has opened a Café Rouge and Caffè Nero in the North Terminal and a Costa Coffee in the South Terminal. At over 180 square metres, Caffè Nero has the capacity to seat 82 people. The coffee chain is also the first to introduce a new service system to cater for high volume footfall. The Café Rouge outlet is more than 300 square metres in size and seats 233 people. Located after security, the restaurant will offer "a taste of Paris and extensive views of Gatwick's airfield". The new arrivals follow the opening of Armadillo in April, a new exclusive restaurant concept from The Restaurant Group. The outlet which is already proving popular with passengers, serves a variety of dishes with a distinct South American influence including buttermilk pancakes, jambalaya, Santa Fe cobb salad, tequila mojito and fresh juices. In the South Terminal, the new 201 square metre Costa Coffee has been built to effectively handle even the busiest peaks in passenger numbers and has four till points as well as a new service system and terraced seating. Gatwick Commercial Director Mike Luddy, said: "Gatwick's priority has always been to provide a great passenger experience. The three new outlets recognise the feedback that we have received from our passengers and are designed to handle high volumes of traffic effectively whilst also catering to a variety of tastes and needs. We are confident that the latest additions will enable passengers to start their holiday before they even fly."
