Foodieboxes for first year students

9th Oct 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
First year students moving into halls of residence at universities for the first time are to benefit from a 'student foodiebox', which will include Scottish goodies such as chocolates, biscuits and a student cook book called 'Beyond Baked Beans'.
The full range includes organic biscuits, oatcakes, Perthshire honey, jams, relishes and chutneys. There are also speciality boxes such as BBQ, Wee Sweetie, Coffee Morning, Tea Lovers and Porridge Foodieboxes. Speaking about the new boxes, Peter McLean said: "There's a growing awareness of the importance of eating local, seasonal produce and reducing food miles. And we want to spread the world about all the Scottish food and drink products we have on our doorstep." He continued: "Our aim is to support smaller Scottish food producers and bring the food hamper concept right up to date by delivering the taste of Scotland in a funky foodiebox."
