10th Jun 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Online suppliers of gourmet organic food, The Fine Food Store, is expanding its product range with children's meals.
The new children's dishes will be a selection of organically produced foods that have no artificial additives and have been produced to classic recipes. These products are not readily available in supermarkets. David Porter, managing director explained the importance of these foods: "Children's food is a growth in the food sector, parents are becoming more concerned about the quality of foods their children are eating and are looking for alternatives. Research from leading scientists found that there are great benefits from eating organically produced foods, especially during childhood. Eating organic food have been found to have less than one sixth the pesticide residues in their urine compared to children eating conventional foods. David continued: "A recent study in the UK found that the proportion of hyperactive children halved when additives were removed from their diets. Many additives – such as preservatives, artificial sweeteners, colourings and flavourings, MSG, hydrogenated fat, and phosphoric acid – are prohibited in organic food production."
