dtR to provide catering at revamped Royal Institution

digby trout Restaurants (dtR), has announced it is to provide full catering services at the Royal Institution of Great Britain (RI) in Mayfair, London.
The announcement comes following its high profile two-and-a-half-year, £22million renovation, which will open in late summer. dtR will run the new public restaurant, bar and cafe, 'Time & Space', part of the overall project designed by renowned architect Sir Terry Farrell. The upgrade, which has been supported by £4.9 million of Heritage Lottery funding, comes as part of the extensive re-imaging of one of London's most famous museum and visitor attractions. This is the first time the RI will offer catering to the public since it opened more than 200 years ago. dtR will also provide full event catering at the RI's stunning new facilities, from the 440 seat Faraday Theatre, to an array of individually themed rooms. Bespoke menus for all elements of the catering have been developed by dtR consultant chef Anton Edelmann in partnership with his protégé and new RI head chef Julian Ward. Andrew Glazier, dtR Regional Manager commented: "We won the contract before building work began in 2006 and since then have been excited about our role in this incredibly prestigious venue. After a lengthy development process we are proud to be providing our tailored, quality menu choices in such stunning surroundings. The specially developed menus centre around what we do best - seasonal British flavours but with a European twist – and served in friendly, contemporary surroundings, ensuring casual sophistication is the order of the day." The RI was founded in 1799, and has built a reputation for excellent lectures and pioneering science. Over the years it has been home to 14 Nobel Prize winners, and witnessed the discovery of ten chemical elements. This summer the RI will reopen to the public following the refurbishment orchestrated by Sir Terry Farrell and under the Directorship of Baroness Susan Greenfield CBE. It now features three floors of museum space and elegant Georgian rooms, which provide a stunning backdrop for any event, as well as, a cafe, bar and restaurant. The announcement comes following the news last month that legendary entrepreneur and founder Digby Trout has returned to the business, signalling a new phase of growth under Managing Director Catherine Roe. Catherine Roe, Managing Director, dtR added; "This significant win – the culmination of a number of years work - highlights the strength of the dtR business and the quality menu and service we offer. This is the first of what we hope will be many such announcements as we enter an ambitious growth period, underpinned by a reinforced management team dedicated to reinvigorating the dtR business." We're building on our offer with existing clients, and seeking new bespoke partnerships across the leisure and heritage sectors, supported by Digby and Anton." Part of Elior UK since 2005, dtR has been providing bespoke catering solutions at some of the UK's most popular heritage and cultural venues including Hampton Court Palace, the Tower of London and Edinburgh Castle since 1987. Menus focus on the 'Best of British favourites', using high quality, often locally sourced ingredients.
