Crescent Primary School pupils cook up a storm on Father's Day

16th Jun 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Daniel Street from Rolls Crescent Primary School won the newly launched 'Father's Day – One in a Million' competition, as he served up a three-course meal for his father yesterday at the City of Manchester Stadium.
The winning dish featured strips of chicken on a bed of fried rice and kidney beans. This was followed by a chocolate fudge cake served with cream. As a reward, Daniel and 10 of his friends treated their parents to the delectable menu in the stadium's 1894 Suite. The pupils got kitted out in mini chef whites and acted as sous-chefs in the kitchen under the eye of executive consultant chef, John Benson-Smith. David Chell, City's head of sales, commented on the event: "We understand how Father's Day can sometimes get overlooked. We wanted to create something a bit more memorable than the traditional card or pair of socks. Daniel's three course meal was prepared by one of the top chefs in the land and enjoyed by 10 other Mums and Dads in a luxurious suite, to mark this special occasion." The competition was launched by The City of Manchester Stadium's award winning hospitality, conference and events team. Hundreds of entries were received for the competition. The 10-strong judging panel was headed by the club's executive consultant chef, John Benson-Smith.
