Class Catering wins School Chef of the Year

2nd Jul 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Class Catering's chef Andy Minchin, from Haybridge High School in Hagley, has recently been awarded the School Chef of The Year title from Worcestershire County Council.
The competition involved a cook off that took place in front of a live audience at the Malvern Three Counties Show, where three finalist cooks from Worcestershire Schools had to cook a two course meal with local ingredients, costing less than £1.00, using a Worcestershire theme that would appeal to school children. The winning chef created a home made Pork and Apple Burger with a Buckland Tomato Chutney, served with a Fresh Herb salad and Roasted Baby New Potatoes, followed by a Mille Fueille of Strawberry and Shortbread with crème Fraiche. Alison Capewell, director of Class Catering, commented on their previous achievements: "Last year we were awarded Worcestershire County Council School Caterer of the year and School Cook Of The Year for Julie Hinkley. To win an award for School Cook Of The year two years in a row is great news and is a clear indication that our attention to quality and use of fresh ingredients continues to play a major part in our successful School meals service."
