Abstract
The North East Culinary and Trade Association (NECTA) is hosting its annual culinary competition at Gosforth Park Race Course on the 19th and 20th May 2009.
Chefs will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills over two days of competitions, which include coveted titles such as 'The North East England Chef of the Year 2009'. On day one, colleges from across the North East of England will showcase their talents through a variety of dishes and techniques, demonstrating their passion and enthusiasm for the catering industry. Day two will see chefs from across the North East battle it out for the acclaimed North East Chef of the Year 2009, where entrants will have to prepare four covers, of a three course menu. Local chefs will also have the opportunity to enter a number of other open classes which include Nestlé Professional's 'CHEF at Salon' competition. Entrants will have to prepare, cook and present two plated portions of a main course of their choice in just 30 minutes. The two day event is open to members of the public as well as industry professionals. It aims to provide chefs with an excellent opportunity to present their skills and talents in a professional but friendly environment and to exchange ideas and knowledge. Martin Lines, marketing director, Nestlé Professional said: "We are passionate about investing in the talent of the future and as such we are pleased to support NECTA as an inspiring growth partner in the North East, to help promote culinary excellence, through this competition."
