The new contracts will commence on the 1st April 2013 and will cover 59 of the specialist retirement housing provider’s 70 Extra Care housing estates nationwide.
The five year contract has been split into three regions. Catering provider Elior has retained the contracts for the South and West whilst Caterplus has secured the contract for the North.
Hanover’s director for Extra Care, Claire Anderson said: “We’ve listened to residents’ views and it’s clear that residents really value their catering service. They want fresh, high quality & nutritionally balanced meals with plenty of choices which suit different tastes and needs.”
In order to represent residents’ views and to assist with the catering tender Hanover’s Catering and Procurement team recruited 65-year old resident Janet Mizzen to research and collate residents’ views.
Mizzen said: “Selecting a good catering provider is paramount if older people are to maintain good health through healthy eating.”
