Caterer Lindley wins contract with St Johnstone

30th Sep 2008 - 00:00
Abstract
Lindley Group, a sports stadia caterer, has been awarded a three year contract to provide catering in the public sector at St Johnstone's, McDiarmid Park ground in Perth.
The caterer won the £300,000 contract with St Johnstone after the club put the public catering contract for its 10,700 seated stadium out to tender. Under the arrangement, Lindley will provide match day catering at the club's 10 kiosks at the ground. St Johnstone will continue to manage the corporate hospitality in-house. Lindley will provide a part-time manager at McDiarmid Park who will manage 30 part-time staff. The group aims to establish 'healthier eating' options and menus at the Scottish Premier League ground as part of the Scottish Government's Healthier Scotland Campaign. The caterer has also renewed its contract with Hibernian FC, which will run until 2012-2014 season, meanwhile the £9 million contract with Celtic FC will extend to 2015. Lindley also picked up the contract for stadia catering at Motherwell FC's Fir Park ground and has established contracts with Dundee FC and Livingston FC last season. Paul Biffen, Lindley Group's sales and marketing director, said: "We've been keen to expand our business in Scotland and with the addition of St Johnstone following the Motherwell contract last season, and the renewal of the contracts at Hibs and Celtic we've really started to gather some momentum." He continued: "We are working these clubs to offer a number of alternatives to the burgers, hot dogs and Scotch pies so popular with Scottish fans. At grounds where the healthier options have been introduced, they are selling quite well."
