Abstract
Barbecue experts across the country are being invited to enter the inaugural British Barbecue Championships, which will be held in Ilminster on June 14th.
A total of 20 teams of up to five chefs are being invited to compete for the title of Britain's Barbecue Champions and some of the country's top restaurants are expected to enter. Rules for the competition are strict and will follow the pattern of the European and World BBQ Championships, with participants competing in four different classes: brisket of beef, pork shoulder, pork ribs and chicken. All meat and barbecuing equipment will be provided but competitors will be able to inject individuality and flair using all the available techniques of grilling, smoking, broiling and marinades. Chefs are also being invited to judge the event, and friends and family are invited to come along and watch, with live bands, entertainment and a beer and cider tent promising a great day out. For more information about attending, judging or competing, please visit www.britishbbqchampionships.com Deadline for entries is April 30th.
