Abstract
Caterers are being urged to take part in this year's British Turkey Awards – now in its 12th year running.
To submit entry forms, chefs can contact turkey@fml-pr.co.uk or by calling 01273 834 716. The prestigious awards allow caterers to showcase the way they are responding to changing consumer demands for healthy eating and innovation. Judges will also be looking for the new British Turkey Chef of the year, an award last year won by Anthony Williams, head chef at the Williams Arms in Wrafton, Devon. His winning dish featured Turkey and Smoked Salmon Roulade with Roast Garlic Crushed Potatoes and Blueberry Compote. Winners of the total of 14 awards will be announced by celebrity chef Phil Vickery at a Hollywood themed black tie charity dinner and dance at Claridge's Ballroom, London on 25 September. Catriona Lee, of the British Turkey Federation's marketing committee, commented: "Catering is a hugely important sector to the industry. Buying British allows caterers to flag up provenance on the menu, which is an increasingly important factor for many consumers." Last year's catering category winner was Bernard Matthews, for its free Range Norfolk Black Combi Case, which the panel of judges said "hit all the right buttons for taste, succulence and convenience."
