Buckingham Group bites into food & logistics sector

Abstract
Building contractor Buckingham Group Contracting has started work on two significant projects which firmly establish their position with in the UK food and distribution sector.
The two contracts, one with Domino's Pizza and the other with foodservice distributor 3663 are valued at £32 million. Buckingham Group were appointed as Principal Contractor to build the new Domino's Pizza Commissary at West Ashlands, Milton Keynes. The £20m project involves the design and build of a new Commissary Building (production facility and distribution warehouse) extending to approximately 80,000sqft with ancillary staff and office accommodation. Designed by Q2 Architects, the building includes feature car parking with an access bridge, street lighting, external service yard, landscaping and 28 dock leveler doors. The Group has also been awarded the contract to build an energy efficient flagship depot for 3663, the UK's leading foodservice wholesale distributor. The 130,000sqft building which includes 48,000sqft chilled and frozen areas and 22,000sqft of office space is being built using the latest sustainable and renewable construction methods, and is due for completion in August 2009. Director Mike Kempley said: "We are delighted to have secured these two competitively bid projects on the price and quality of our service.
