Brakes wins best new seafood award

Abstract
Brakes has won the Best New Seafood Products Award at the Seafood Awards 2009.
The Seafood Awards are held by Seafish, the authority on seafood, which aims to promote good quality and sustainable seafood across all sectors of the seafood industry. The initiative is designed to encourage enterprise, innovation and best practice throughout the industry. Entries were encouraged from processors, suppliers, restaurateurs and fryers to fishermen and fishmongers across a plethora of categories. Comments from the judges on the winning product, Brakes Cod, Smoked Haddock & Leek en Papillote included: "Cooked in parchment paper added a dramatic flair to this prime cod loin set on a bed of roasted leeks. The judges were impressed at the clean ingredient list". One of the judges said that "Consumers will view this as something really quite special". James Armitage, marketing director at Brakes commented on the win: "Being awarded Best Seafood Product from such a panel of industry experts is a real accolade for the quality of this product. With fish and seafood demand and consumption growing, we are continually striving to offer our customers new and exciting dishes, which add value and a real point of difference to their menus. It's a great product and a credit to our development team."
