SSP secures deal to run seven F&B outlets at Alicante-Elche Airport

Travel food and drink operator, SSP Group PLC,has secured an eight-year contract worth €203 million to open seven food and beverage units at Alicante-Elche Airport.

In a first for the company, SSP will partner with UK craft brewery BrewDog, to launch a bar in the Departures area in June.

Blanca Ripoll, managing director of SSP Spain, said: “We are delighted to have been awarded this new contract at Alicante-Elche, which reaffirms our position as a leading operator in the travel market in Spain.

“We look forward to opening with these new on-trend and exciting brands, which will no doubt provide a wide choice of food and drink options to our valued customers.”

SSP will also launch a mix of international brands and popular local concepts both airside and landside under the new deal.

Burger King was the first brand to launch with three units opened in March. SSP will also debut its first Häagen-Dazs ice cream shop in Spain and open a new restaurant from one of North America’s largest chains, Tim Hortons, in June. A new outlet from Spanish charcuterie experts Enrique Tomas will follow in November.
