Abstract
Italian drinks company, S.Pellegrino, has opened entry for its 2019 Young Chef competition, with this year's focus on using gastronomy to 'drive positive social impact'.

Open to chefs under the age of 30 across the world, the fourth annual contest aims to “bring out the best of young talents who have the potential to create positive change in society through food.”

As well as showcasing their technical skill and creativity, contestants must communicate their vision of the world and their contribution to society through food.

Entries close 30 April and can be submitted online via http://www.sanpellegrinoyoungchef.com/en.

In addition to the prestigious Young Chef award, S.Pellegrino has introduced three other awards for 2019. These include:

  • Fine Dining Lovers Food for Thoughts Award - for the chef who best represents his/her personal belief within their dish
  • S.Pellegrino Award for Social Responsibility - dish that best shows socially responsible practices
  • Aqua Panna Award for Connection in Gastronomy – dish that celebrates a global approach to gastronomy

Stefano Marini, Sanpellegrino International Business Unit director, said: “This fourth edition of S.Pellegrino Young Chef represents the commitment of S.Pellegrino to continue developing an initiative that nurtures the future of gastronomy.

“We are committed to supporting the international gastronomy community by nesting, discovering and promoting the next generation of culinary talent, enabling it to demonstrate their personal belief leveraging the transformative power of gastronomy.”

Regional finals will take place 21 June – 31 December, with the grand finale set to take place next summer (June 2020).
