Abstract
A brand new cooking competition aimed at apprentice chefs has launched this year, ‘Chefs’ Challenge’, run in partnership by hospitality firms Tried and Supplied, and Hosco.

With the winner set to take home dinner for two at a three Michelin-starred restaurant, those interested must apply by the end of the month (31 January) via https://www.triedandsupplied.com/#/local-chef.

As well as showcasing apprentices’ creativity and giving them a chance to ‘distinguish themselves,’ the contest hopes to help chefs find artisan ingredients local to them, reduce environmental impact and support British producers.

Entrants must submit a three-course menu (starter, main, and pudding) using ingredients from Tried and Supplied, which must be listed in full with all supplier names. They must also include one cocktail, wine, beer, spirit, tea, coffee and chocolate option.

Marion Amacker, head of talent search at Hosco, said: “There’s a big shortage of chefs at the moment, so it’s an excellent time for ambitious young chefs to make their mark.”
