National Marine Aquarium gains MSC certification
Abstract
The National Marine Aquarium’s Waves Café in Plymouth has received Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification highlighting its commitment to serving fish from responsible and sustainable sources.

The MSC certification follows the Waves Café’s blue Fish2fork rating last year, when head chef Craig Walker received a Blue Fish rating and a glowing report from the online sustainable dining guide.

Stacey Turner, Plymouth Sustainable Fish Cities co-ordinator, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have achieved MSC certification.

“Craig and his team have been working towards achieving this milestone as part of the Aquarium’s exemplary approach to fish sourcing practices – it is a great achievement for them, and one that the whole Aquarium team is very proud of.

“The certification is another step in demonstrating Plymouth to be a destination for sustainable fish best practice, as we continue our bid to become a Sustainable Fish City.”

Plymouth now has three of the five stars required to achieve the sustainable status, following pledges from hospitals, schools, colleges, universities, local businesses and restaurants throughout the city.
